    xmas day at yours

i was just talking about this with hubby ......

last year as usual my hubby attempts to cook xmas dinner but i end up doing it
anyway as usual he put the oven on waited for it to heat up then put in the turkey after about an hour i went in to baste it .... the plank had only gone and put the grill on
cut a long story short we had to then put the oven on and start again which meant xmas lunch was late we ate around 2:30 pm normally we have it around 12:00 then have a xmas tea around 6 pm ..... however we didnt feel like another meal so saved alot of cooking for me

this year we have decided to cook xmas lunch later we have just always done lunch and a xmas tea as thats how we both had it as kids ..speaking to others so many have their lunch later too sooooo just curious and nosey what happens in your house on xmas day

Strange how different people have different rituals.

When I was growing up we were all dragged to our GrandParents, they had dinner at 1pm on the dot and then a tea at 6pm sharp.

Now I'm grown up I go to my Parents for Christmas dinner and we always have it about 3pm, then just pick and nibble into the night if we are hungry.

We always had dinner at 1 then tea around 6 now we have dinner around 3 dont have a pud or a tea...

There is one thing i wont change and hope my kids pass onto there kids, i have done this from my kids being really small, i have always found once the presents are open the excitement goes so i started keeping 3 presents each behind, place one on there seats at dinnertime, they get another around 6, then another at bedtime, usually nnew pjs and a dvd, then the fun lasts all day and my kids love it..

we only ever have 1 meal, normally about 4/5. Tend to have a good breakfast and skip lunch to make room for all the turkey lol lol

Good idea with the Presents Karen.

We tend to open a few in the morning, then the rest after dinner.
